When we make plans and life clearly has other ideas....
A few days after my last post we were going to the women's league cup final game at Crystal Palace and walking down the hill to our assigned gate I tripped and stumbled. Not wanting to fall flat on my face in the middle of a huge crowd, I tried to keep myself from falling and staggered/stumbled down the hill, gathering speed as I went until I finally stopped myself...by slamming into a brick wall.
My frantic husband caught up with me at that point and asked if I was okay...to which the obvious answer was no.
I will spare you the gory details but nine months down the line I am still having physiotherapy to try to regain full function of my right shoulder. Being incapacitated has been a challenge. So many of the activities of daily living that we simply take for granted, suddenly became impossible and it has been frustrating. Not being able to create was the final insult on the cake of injury. Thankfully I am most definitely on the mend, although slipping on a wet leaf and knocking my shoulder on the frame of the car door at the weekend has not helped any. There are still a few things I can't do, but I am finding workarounds and on the last visit the physio was quite optimistic. She tells me this is going to be a long term recovery and I should be thinking in terms of a few more months rather than weeks. We have a plan and I can't wait for things to get back to normal. Next appointment is on 5th Feb so fingers crossed.
We both had awful colds and coughed our way through the festive season but we are coming out the other side and were filled with optimism for the coming new year....and then I got shingles! Seriously what else? I am existing in a haze of pain meds and we are busy forming some possible travel plans as a distraction. I have a raft of idea for creative projects I am determine to complete in 2024...so for us its ever onwards and upwards.
Until Next time

Picture is of the cover of a project I made in December for a Secret Santa gift in a junk journal group. It was great fun to make and the recipient loved it so all was good.
