Art Journal backgrounds (for a swap)
I recently took part in an International swap where we each made background papers for our swap partner to use in art journal projects...either as base pages or cut down into elements. I had such fun with this and because I didn't know my swap partner at all, I simply made pages that I would be happy to use.
The page in the above photo was very simply made by applying some bead gel medium onto a blank page and using Dylusions spray inks over the top once the medium was completely dry (I left it overnight to be certain) . It has texture and shine and interesting areas that draw the eye...sadly none of which photograph all that well. The reverse side was made using gesso through a stencil and adding the same sprays over the top. I figured by doing both sides in inks in the same shades any potential bleed through would not be an issue...and it worked. The page ended up being heavier than some of the others but could easily make a good cover option

The second pic shows one made using napkin decopage with textured embossing paste through a stencil in the centre of the page... And this third pic was made using bubble wrap to several shades of paint which was then finished of with white gel pen.
Pics 4-7 were acrylic paints and archival inks using some stamping and mark making
There were 14 double sided pages in all so hopefully plenty of choice for my swap partner to work with. In return I received a dozen bright painted pages that I plan to turn into an art journal that I will try to feature when it is complete.
