Floral Folio

I made this little folio today using another  digital kit and a few elements I had laying around.  I used the printed pages as the base for the folio and I added panels to the plain white reverse of the printed pages to form the entire booklet. Of course I could have printed on both sides of the paper but I have been known to mess this up by accidentally turning the sheets for the second run and ending up with upside down images....Probably just a me thing but better safe than sorry.
The folio was hand stitched using brown and white paper twine (which I  think is a Tim Holtz product) For the front and back cover I chose to use panels and these worked well to secure and hide the ends of the ribbon closures. For the front panel I used a large postcard from the kit, mounted onto card and I adhered some gold mesh to the back of this and had it poking out around all four sides.

Inside I chose to start with a page that showed a checklist. I thought it as a logical and useful place to start as it could be used  as an index or to set out key points or intentions

On the opposite page I used one of the postcards from the kit to form a tuck band and I popped a tag (also from the kit)  behind it.

In the centre of the folio I made a closed pocket. This meant I could hide the stitch binding inside the pocket which was deliberately cut a little smaller than the other pages. Into the pocket I popped a couple of tags back to back.

On the other side of the pocket page I used the floral film strip as a tuck band and behind that I popped another of the pretty postcards that came in the kit but you could put anything you liked behind there and it will hold more than one element

On the next page I made a layered double pocket into which I put a couple of postcards and a tag which I cut down a little and folded into a journal spot in the form of a drop down envelope.

Finally on the back cover I made a panel with a tuck spot. I did some tone on tone stamping on the backing card and I fussy cut a small dragonfly from a piece of the patterned paper and adhered it to the top corner. I used glossy accents on this little element to give a 3D effect.  I used some gold glittery ribbon to edge the back panel  and then I popped a post card into the tuck spot.
When the postcard is removed the cute  little 3D dragonfly is revealed. Of course you could stuff as many elements as you wanted into the back pocket but I chose to use just the one.

The whole project was made using another of the digital kits  by Sandra Murrell and you can find the I'm Dreaming of a Flower Garden kit right here As with all of Sandra's kits, there are so many elements (papers, tags, pockets , labels etc)  and I only used a small selection of the kit for this project.
That's it for now. I enjoyed making this project and its on to the next...watch this space
